Monty Taylor, Sky-Trax Program Director (CCV), Sky-Trax, Inc.:
"Development of Centrally Controlled Vehicles (CCV): A Progress and Status Report"
A new class of vehicle system is under development which may create a rapid growth market for automated vehicles for new industrial applications. In a CCV system, both driven and guided vehicles may operate cooperatively within the same space. A new type of automated vehicle is needed to work within this cooperative domain along with human drive forklifts. In the CCV system, the entire fleet of both driven and guided vehicles can be routed
and commanded via centralized database control. Driven and guided vehicles operate safely and effectively within the same coordinate space. Navigation
is provided via optical RTLS sensors which view ceiling mounted markers. The current status of development and projected market opportunities are reported.
